Christmas School Holiday - Sunday BBQ's, South Hedland - Wellbeing BBQ Perth Supporting young people

Providing Safe Spaces.

Thank you so much to #Windamuda, Town of Port Hedland and all the families for your support. I’ve honestly enjoyed seeing everyone come down for the Sunday BBQs. Turning up each week to cook a feed for the young ones — and anyone else who stopped by — has been deadly. The food’s been great, but the yarns, laughs, and company have meant even more. Just knowing there are people there to sit, talk, help out, or lend support in any way really means a lot.

These BBQs have also been a safe space to check in on each other. Through Nih Kaartdijin Mia, we’re trained to share information around Aboriginal Mental Health First Aid, Youth Aboriginal Mental Health First Aid, Deadly Thinking Youth and anyone who needed a yarn or a bit of support knew they could have a chat. If more help was needed, we were always happy to help guide people to the right service.
Nih Kaartdijin Mia also offers Aboriginal Mental Health First Aid training to workplaces by request, helping create safer and more supportive spaces for our people.
A big thank you to everyone who’s supported us over the school holidays. Your time, care, and presence haven’t gone unnoticed.
Just a heads up — next Sunday will be our last Sunday BBQ with school starting back.
We look forward to introducing #YiraLink in the near future.
Thanks again to everyone who’s been part of it. I really appreciate you all. 💛
